Traffic mayhem

Oh my what would a blog from a Joburger be without a comment on the traffic problems. A few weeks ago we went to Belfast for the weekend, it did take us almost 2 hours to get out of Johannesburg. Yesterday I had the displeasure of crossing the highway bridge on Hans Schoeman. No lights were working in the area, time was early only about 14h30. It was mayhem to put it lightly. There seems to be a temporary off ramp from the highway and you can really see how the vehicles were battling to exit the highway. To compound to the problems the lights up the road towards the dome were down as well. Wow I personally would not like to have seen this in rush hour. I was lucky and managed to do the 2 kilometer stretch in just under 30 minutes. Metro police: Is this a foreign word, no this are the people pulling you over to check your license. Yup while the lights are down. That is really crazy, JHB has a major traffic problem with all the construction and the brilliant team of Outsurance points men are not enough! Come now can other companies not also get involved in the project? Can the metro people pull a finger? This has been going on for months with many more months to come. Guess my post yesterday of the earth burning is of little consultation in this complete traffic mayhem we find JHB in.
