The world of WII

The time has come where I have been able to get a game console and say it is for the benefit of my kids. What an excuse, really – I even believe it myself. After bring a wii to its new home on the weekend we have seen 3 days of intense game action and tournaments. Golf is currently my favorite however I do fear that the lack of a range of  courses I wonder how long it can keep one entertained. Games that I have come to know like age of empires, Dune and the likes there were a plethora of various maps and quests for one to conquer, wii resorts – Golf certainly lacks this depth, I mean really how many times can you play the same 18 holes, or is it that I am missing something or am I not the target market for their game in the first place?

While we talk about the wii I have to share a story with you, it is a prime example how sales people just really do not listen to their customers at the best of time. On entering an Incredible Connection store – Fourways – a sales assistant came up to me and asked if she can assist, I said “yes please I want a wii can you show me where the toilet is?” Needless to say after repeating myself 3 times she continued to show me the pile of wii’s they had on display. Again her lack of sales skills trumped her when we asked a few question on the wii – a week before xmas and they have 100 wii consoles on display and no new games in the form of wii sports resort! Oh and if you finally find the answer to what you went looking for over 20 minutes while we were there waiting – we have left the store – thanx anyway! Well done to the ordering guys at Incredible – you lost a R5K sale as this is what we ended up spending on our wii set up.

The magnificent and technology of the wii is phenomena lets not take too much away from it. It is an excellent concept, easy to use and I am sure will kep this family entertained for many many hours to come. Who ever thought that you would get stiff and sore after playing 36 holes of golf digitally?
