Taste of Mumbai
Had dinner last night at emperors at a place called “Taste of Mumbai”, the company was great however I did learn a very valuable lesson. Beware of the BUFFET! I think I am going to make this a general rule going further. Being an Indian restaurant and my general enjoyment of food and the variety there of I opted for the buffet, oh my what a mistake, the only decent thing were the nan breads. Started off with a small helping of chicken curry, it was blander than the sole of my shoe. Not good for an Indian restaurant. I then looked over the vegetarian dishes and the seafood dish, a restaurant seafood curry certainly makes me nervous. This left the beef curry, dished myself a small helping with a few tiny – what I thought were chilly bites. Well the curry, bones had splinted in the curry and it really was unpleasant to put it mildly as it was that too, it fits right next to my shoe in the overall taste department. The chilly bites and a use this term lightly as they certainly did not deserve to be called anything, where disgusting, they were tasteless and ice cold. I stopped someone who looked like a manger and gave him some feedback on the bone splintered curry, his reply: “oh not to worry they are filling it up now”, HUH? Did you not hear me – no more! OK so still being hungry I opted to return to the chicken curry, again this added to my comedy of errors and the over error in making the mistake of choosing the buffet in the first place. The chicken curry was now burnt, not simply tasting burnt, there were chard embers on the edges of the chicken. Apart from all of the above the nan bread was great, – no it was excellent! Well done guys!
