Yup this week’s dumbass award is mine solely and well deservedly mine. After a very early start from JHB on Saturday morning we arrived at the hotel in Durban just before lunch. After checking in I proceeded to drive my new trailer with 3 bikes on the trailer rack into the low level roof of the under ground parking garage. The bike carrier was bent and distorted and the bikes where knocked off with such force that the flimsy bike rack on the trailer stood no real chance of offering a stern resistance (Thankfully the bike rack was flimsy). Wall 1 , bike trailer 0, luckily the flats on the tyre’s could easily be repaired prior to the race on Sunday and yea looking back on it the bikes collected a bit of houding. What a dumbass, I know I have done some silly , stupid things however this really is right up their if not on top of the pile! Recovering form my stupidity fairly quickly we managed to get the bikes repaired the morning for the Amashova to better my previous time by almost a minute (Can you tell I am chuffed). The Amashova really does feature as one of my all time favorite races and through the rain, long uphills and blistering fast down hills this year did not disappoint at all….
